Creating PDF Portfolios

A new feature of PDF Converter 6 – Professional and Enterprise editions – is the ability to create PDF Portfolios. A PDF Portfolio is a collection of files of various file types (PDF, Microsoft Office files, images, videos, etc) and folders presented in a “virtual” document set.  You can effectively organise, share and secure document groups easier than ever before using a PDF Portfolio!

PDF Portfolios are used to create folder structures within a PDF file. Similar to packages, they are great for organising and sharing documents but this next generation tool offers much more in the way of presentation, including selecting colour palettes, embedding a welcome flash video or a header graphic for the portfolio and more.

In any situation where you need to bring together files for presenting, storing or collecting information, consider building a PDF Portfolio.

  • Presenting Content: Delivering a presentation designed in PDF Portfolio allows you to present an overview while maintaining the option to drill down into a component file as the situation requires.
  • Storing Information: PDF Portfolio simplifies the workflow involved in storing information and communicating with colleagues – you no longer have to provide directions on where to find a particular piece of information. At the end of a project, the relevant materials can be assembled into a PDF Portfolio ready for archiving and future reference.

  • Licenses are purchased for each individual user. Discounts are from the standard price, and are calculated based on the number of licenses.

Nuance Site License Program – quick overview

  • For medium to large organisations (minimum 201 users)
  • Simplified license program – there is a single fixed fee for a range of users for a defined site (for example 201 to 500 users). You can use up to the maximum number of licenses in that range without paying additional license fees.

Improve the Images you create with OmniPage 17

Automatically

You can run some image enhancing operations automatically.

Auto-deskew and auto-despeckle during image loading can be specified in the Tools>Options>Process panel.

Auto-brightness and auto-rotation (orientation) during scanning can be specified in the Tools>Options>Scanner panel.

Manually

You can also enhance the quality of images (scanned or loaded) using the SET (Scanner Enhancement Technology) tools.

Click this button in the image toolbar to display the Image Enhancement with the SET tools.
Crop: removes everything outside selected area
Rotate: rotates everything by 90, 180 or 270 degrees or flips images
Deskew: straightens image

Improve Images for OCR and Photos using OmniPage 17

Use the following SET tools to enhance the black-and-white images created by OmniPage for OCR:

Despeckle: remove dots, spots up to 1 or 2 pixels large
OCR Brightness: this optimizes the OCR images generated from colour or greyscale originals. This tool has no effect if the original image was black/white.
Dropout colour: this enables a chosen colour to be dropped when pre-printed  colour forms are scanned or loaded. Then the fixed texts and boxes etc. can be dropped from the images, leaving only the respondent data visible and ready for OCR.
3D Deskew: this lets you view the results of 3D deskewing and modify them if necessary. It is designed for digital camera input.
Use these SET tools to improve photos or pictures. Adjust settings on the sliders.
